I did some watering of my plants in and around the house.

The mailman brought me my win from Cozy Homemaking today too.

It came all the way from France!!!

Es kam aus Frankreich! :0)

Our bananas started to look a bit brownish...

Unsere Bananen fangen an etwas braun auszusehen....

so I decided to make some Banana Pecan Muffin.

also habe ich mich kurzerhand entschlossen Bananen Pecan Muffin zu backen.

They are soooo good!!

Die sind soooo lecker!!!

After school the youngest went in the pool.

It's still a bit cool, but warming up every day a bit more.

Nach der Schule ist der Juengste dann im Pool schwimmen gegangen.

Es ist zwar immer noch etwas kuehl,aber es wird schon jeden Tag etwas waermer.

Gromit only fishes his ball out.

Gromit fischt nur seinen Ball aus dem Wasser.

Bailey prefers to check on the lizard's

Bailey guckt lieber nach Eidechsen.

This plane,an Osprey, was practicing starting and landing at the near by airport.

Dieses Flugzeug, ein Osprey hat starten und landen an nahegelegenen Flughafen geuebt.

I noticed this wasp starting a nest on the patio.

It's beautiful, but we will have to take care of that....

One of our kids is allergic to wasps and hornets.

Mir ist aufgefallen das ein paar Hornissen sich ein Nest auf unserer Terrasse bauen.

Es ist schon huebsch, aber wir muessen uns darum kuemmern, da einer unsere Kinder auf Wespen und Hornissen allergisch ist.

We have grass! Wir haben Gras!

We finally have grass again! Yeah!!! :0)

Endlich haben wir wieder Gras! :0)

After all these month of work on the pool
the work is complete and we can start to enjoy the yard again.

Nach all den Monaten an denen am Pool gearbeitet wurde , sind alle Arbeiten nun (endlich)beendet und wir können anfangen den Garten wieder zu geniessen,

The new grass is still a bit dry, but with regular watering it should be green in no time.

Das neue Gras ist zwar noch etwas drögelig, aber mit regelmässigen wässern wird der Rasen schnell grün sein.

I have made a bunch of Mini Babies for Etsy and custom orders .

Ich habe auch wieder ein paar Mini's gemacht . Für Etsy und als Sonderanfertigungen

This custom Mini was made with cotton flannel and is very soft.

Diese Mini habe ich auf Bestellung mit Flannel gemacht. Es ist super weich.

This custom Mini was requested with Polyester stuffing and this cute Erin Morris fabric.

Bei diese Bestellung sollte ich mit Polyesterfüllwatte stopfen damit es in der Waschmaschiene gewaschen werden kann.

Since the time change last weekend it's still dark when I get up!
Seit der Zeitumstellung vom letzten Wochenende ist es Morgens noch dunkel wenn ich aufstehe.

New magazines arrived in the mail.

Der Postbote hat neue Hefte gebracht.

In the afternoon I baked 6 dozend oatmeal chocolate chip cookies for the Scottish Festival at church.

Nachmittags habe ich dann 6 dutzend Schokoladen Haferkekse gebacken die für das Schottische Festival in unserer Kirche gedacht sind.

I made another 3 dozen for us of course.

Ich habe natürlich auch noch drei Dutzend für uns gemacht.

I had planned to line the cupboards with new paper, but that has to wait until another day.

Eigentlich wollte ich die Küchenschränke mit neuem Papier auslegen, aber das muss ich an einem anderen Tag machen.

This was our supper.

Dies war unser Abendessen.

Later I worked a bit more on my new blog for my Baby Slings.
Später habe ich dann noch ein bischen an meinem neuen Blog für meine Baby Trageschlingen gearbeitet.

An that was my day, more or less. :0)

Und das war dann mein Tag, mehr oder weniger. :0

I get the feeling that this pool is going to look beautiful once it's done.

Ich hab das Gefühl das es super aussehen wird wenn alles fertig ist.

Frost

Ok, this might not seem like anything to report on, while most of the North American continent is buried under snow and shivering in sub zero temperatures, but for Florida it is.

Ok,dies ist eigentlich nichts was man berichten müsste,vor allem wo doch der Norden der USA und Canada unter Massen von Schnee begraben sind und in
-30C Temperaturen klappern, aber für Florida ist es schon heftig und ein paar Zeilen wert.

We have frost! -6 C /21 F for days now! Wow!

Of course by lunch it is gone, but hey, in the land of warmth this is big!

It's kind of funny how people dress though. Most either ignore the cold and keep wearing shorts and sandals or the dress like they plan to head out in 30 below to shovel 2 feet of snow.

I'm sure in no time we are back to the usual temperatures.

Wir haben Frost! -6C schon seit Tagen! Wow!

Natürlich ist alles gegen Mittag schon wieder verschwunden, aber im Land der Wärme ist das dann doch schon 'ne riesen Sache.

Es ist schon irgendwie lustig wie die Leute sich dann dazu anziehen. Die meisten ignorieren die Kälte einfach und tragen auch jetzt noch Shorts und Sandalen, andere hingegen sind so doll eingepackt als ob sie bei minus 30 Grad über einen Meter Schnee schaufeln müssten.

Ich bin jedoch sicher das wir schon recht bald wieder unsere normalen Temperaturen haben werden.

I don't know what it is after Christmas that you get the urge to reorganize.

That's what I did and plan to do for a few more areas in our house. First on my list was my computer corner.....

Ich weiss nicht was es ist, das man nach Weihnachten immer der Organisationsdrang bekommt.

Mir geht es jedenfalls so und ich hab dann mal bei meiner Computerecke angefangen.....

I feel it works better now and looks more open then before.

Ich finde es funktioniert so besser und sieht offener aus.

Our pool is still not done , but the patio and pool surrounding are.

Unser Pool ist immer noch nicht fertig, aber die Terrasse wurde letzte Woche fertig gepflastert.

There's still a lot of sand on the stones,so the colors don't show very well, but I thought you might like to see it anyway. Next week they want to start on the inside of the pool

Hmm...I just noticed that I don't have a picture of the pool with the new tile and the stones around it... I will get one tomorrow....

Auf den Steinen liegt noch viel Sand und die Farben kommen nicht so gut zur Geltung, aber ich dachte ihr würdet sie dennoch gerne sehen. Nächste Woche soll dann auch das Innere des Pools fertig gemacht werden.

Hmmm...habe gerade festgestellt das ich kein Bild von den neuen Kacheln ,der Poolkante und den Steinen drumrum habe. Ich mach morgen eins .....

Pool Drama

As promised , here now the story of our pool drama.

Better grab a coffee/tea, this is kind of a long story.....

Here we go.

Since we are only here in Florida for 4 years, we rented the house we live in. It came with a pool, what is nice when you 're not crazy about brutal heat and humidity!

Before we moved in the pool was resurfaced to get rid of spots in the pool. So when we arrived here it all looked great. This is probably the first and last time in our life that we will have a pool and the kids were using it every day for hours. Problem was the pool surface was so rough, like really coarse sandpaper, that the kids had bloody fingertips and toes after the second day and could only go in the pool with water socks. So we reported to our landlord/property manager about it and they got in touch with the company that re surfaced the pool to fix the problem.

Now you probably start to wonder what this has to do with the mess we have in the yard right now? Well here it comes....

The company argued to get more money to fix the problem(they caused) for half a year!!! Then they backed off and agreed to sand it down. Problem was , that we had a LOT of rain in February and our yard was pretty much water logged. So the guy showed up one day, pumped the pool empty, sanded the pool surface, hung our garden hose in it after to fill it up again and left! So far so good, but the next day our pool had popped 5 inches/13cm out of the ground!! The ground water level just pushed the empty pool right out of the ground. This pool is a concrete pool and that doesn't make it exactly flexible. Cracks appeared everywhere.

Now came the fun part. Trying to get the company's insurance to pay for it to be fixed.We had many pool company's come and do estimates and they all said it would have to be replaced. The insurance of course wanted to fix the cracks only. The longer it took the more cracks appeared and we started to loose about 4 inches/12 cm of water every day!

Well, long story short.... it took until now to have them agree to replace it.

And so on the 13. November big machinery showed up in the yard and work began...

So far so good....I will report on the progress.

With all the dirt and mud in the yard , one of our dogs (Gromit) came runing in the house one day before i could stop him. He ran, of course ,right through to the kitchen...AAAAAHHHHH!

Oh nooooo! The mess!

Well when all this is over and done with, I will have to get the Bissell carpet cleaner out and do all the carpets again.
