A bit of baking...

Yesterday and today I had an urge to bake and make a dessert that I had seen on one of the Canadian shows that just looked very delicious.

In this house baked goods and desserts are never getting old or have to be tossed out. My boys and my hubby are more then happy to try something new.

So yesterday I made a Strawberry Rhubarb Jalousie.

It's a puff pastry dough filled with and almond cream ( Frangipane) and strawberry and rhubarb.

There were some problems, but it turned out all right.

I had problems finding some of the ingredients, like frozen puff pastry that comes in 2 thick sheets, instead of many very thin sheets. Also ground almonds are not something that is sold in grocery stores around town. At the end I found both items in the fabulously stocked Commissary store on Base.(Air Base) They have a huge German food section as well , where I can get many of things that I still love and miss even after 15 years on this continent.....

The other thing was the recipe. A few details were missing and that made the process difficult and the end result not a 100%.

It was tasty and everyone loved it, but I will try it again with some adjustments.

Then today I made this....

These are Lemon Cheesecake Mousse Shortcakes( with a few blueberries...)

This recipe was easy and fast.

I'm sure they will be a hit , when the guys come home, and gone by bedtime! :0)
