Winter is here for sure

Winter has arrived n Northern Ontario and I think it's here to stay too.
I have a few days off and since we had a freezing rain warning this morning I
wanted to make sure I go and get some branches for decoration and an Advends wreath
Yes, I know the 1. Advend was last Sunday, but I have been so busy with making custom dolls for Christmas and day job that I just didn't get around to it .
So today we, Gromit and me went out in the bush to get some .

Such a cute little tree .....

and then this big Cedar tree. Look how small Gromit is beside it.
He's not a small dog.

 He really likes winter.
Running in the snow, sniffing for things underneath the snow and even grabbing mouthfuls of snow when running.

I like winter too.
Look how pretty even those dead plants look.

Well Gromit and I accomplished what we set out to do.

 I got my branches and
Gromit got his walk in the snow.

I love it when he has ice hanging from his whiskers.
Have to take a picture on a day when it's really cold.

Those branches smell so nice in the house. I'm off to make the wreath now.
Have a wonderful day!

Fall beauty

Apples are in season and sooo good.
I love buying fresh apples from Ontario, going to places like this one and picking them out of large crates. The smell is fantastic and it looks great too.

Fall colors have changed in the last few weeks.
Hardly any red or green left and with the high winds during that time many leaves dropped already.

Still time to get out on the water for fishing or just boating, but it is pretty chilly at times already.

Love just walking in the woods, through piles of leaves and the smell of decomposing plant material in the air.

I like fall! How about you?

Fall in the North Part 2

So here as promised the second part of my fall pictures from yesterday.
Look at this color spectrum.....
Beautiful!!!

This was such a lovely spot too.
Wouldn't that be nice for a backyard?

Water planes are something very common around here. Every lake has some.

This spot made me want to sit and just dream.
The sun sparkling on the water, a light breeze, gorgeous colors all around you and the smell of fall.

I'm not sure what kind of berries those are, but the bright red clusters made for great pictures

This one is probably one of my favorite pictures!
The bright red leaves in front of the grey rock with the yellow leaves on the side.
So beautiful!!!

Well, that's it for now.
I could have taken so many more, but these really made my day!  :)
Hope you enjoyed them too.
I hope to get a few more chances to get out to take pictures soon.

Fall in the North

It's fall again up here in the North.
I like fall. I like all the seasons, but fall is one of my favorites.
People that know me can tell you that I'm not a fan of hot weather, so fall is always welcomed by me.
Then there are of course the colors of change in nature.
Here in the North it's especially beautiful.
Red , yellow and orange or mixtures of it everywhere.

We went for a Sunday drive around the area and along parts of Trout Lake.
The sun came out for a bit here and there too what made it all even prettier.

What a beautiful spot this is!

When the sun peeked out from behind the clouds, is was like the colors were switched on.

Look at this!!! Breathtaking! The color, clouds and reflection in the calm parts of the lake....
LOVE it!

And here we have some fall leaves in the clear water.

I have a more pictures that I will post in a second post.
Have a wonderful day!

A visit to Board's Honey Farm

On Sunday the weather was so nice that I decided to take the day off sewing and went for a drive with my husband to Board's Honey Farm in Restoule.
It's about 50 minutes from where we live in the country so it makes for a nice trip.

My husband has pollen allergies and found that a great way to keep them in check is to use
local meadow honey. Every time before we move he buys local honey on our house hunting trip and starts using that honey a few weeks before the actual move. He has great results with it.

We collect all the jars from the honey and when we have a whole bunch of them go to Board's and get them filled. It's a bit cheaper that way plus you get to go on a nice trip.

In the shop you find everything connected with honey and education about bee's and honey.

There's a nice walking path through the woods on Board's property that we took.
Makes me miss our place we had in Alberta....

Anybody knows what these are?

These are Saskatoon berries. We had them in Alberta as well. They taste like blueberries but grow on large shrubs or small trees.

What a beautiful rose....
Was fuer eine schoene Rose......

Beautiful farm setting with old barns on our way around the area

This is Wolfe Lake

Look at that huge tadpole! It was about 3"/8 cm long!! That is going to be a good size frog!!!
Guckt euch mal die riesige Kaulquappe. Die war ca 8 cm lang! Das wir ein grosser Frosch!!

We stopped at this store for an ice cream cone . Yummy!

...and here another farm. I love these Ontario farms!
...und dann nochmal eine Farm. Ich liebe Ontario Farms.
What a great day it was and I'm glad I took the time off!
