Still here.../Noch anwesend...
Last week the weather was so beautiful warm that I spend a of of time outside walking with our dogs, gardening and enjoying the sunshine.
Look at this wonderful texture of this wool I got last week from Linda at
I plan to try dying it myself for the first time.
When I have done it I will show some pictures.
mama4earth bekommen habe.
Ich will sie selber faerben. Mein erster Versuch!!
I still want to tell you about this delicious quiche with asparagus ,ham and some goat cheese that I made last week.
It was sooo good!!! I will have to make some more soon
Then there is still this cool picture of the sun shining through a hole in the clouds.

So much to do.../ So viel zu tun....
I better finish my cup of coffee and get out there before my weather luck changes again and it gets too hot and humid again.
Have a wonderful day!

Happy Halloween!
I have to say that I am not a big fan of Halloween, but since I have kids we do a few things as well. Nothing over the top and we won't turn the yard into a graveyard or haunted house. We bake Halloween cookies.....

Oh my god, it's so good!!
The recipe was from the Libby's pumpkin puree can.
Pumpkin Roll:
Cake
- Powdered sugar( Icing sugar)
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp.baking powder
- 1/2 tsp.baking soda
- 1/2 tsp.ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup pure pumpkin (Libby's)
- 1 cup chopped walnuts( I used pecans)
Filling
- 1pkg(8oz.) cream cheese,softened
- 1 cup sifted powdered sugar
- 6 tbsp. butter or margarine, softened
- 1 tsp vanilla extract.
- powdered sugar
For the cake: Preheat oven to 375 F, Grease 15x10 inch jelly roll pan, line with wax paper. Grease and flour paper. Sprinkle thin kitchen towel with powdered sugar
Combine: Flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt in a small bowl. Beat eggs and sugar in large mixer bowl until thick. Beat in pumpkin. Stir in flour mix. Spread evenly into prepared pan. Sprinkle with nuts.
Bake for 13-15 min. or until top of the cake springs back when touched. Immediately loosen and turn cake onto prepared towel. Carefully peel off paper. Roll up cake and towel together, starting at the narrow end. Let cool on wire rack.
For the filling: Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, butter and vanilla extract in small mixing bowl until smooth. Carefully unroll cake, remove towel.Spread cream cheese mixture over cake. Reroll cake. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate at least for 1 hour. Sprinkle with powdered sugar
Enjoy!

Mmmm...fresh bread
I made a small loaf and a bun to see how it works and how they turn out.
I am soooo impressed!!!!!
You know often you get a book and they say how easy it is to make this or that and then it doesn't work? Well this book works and it is super easy. Really!
I made the dough last night. You just mix the ingredients together, NO KNEADING,let it rise for about 2 hours in the container that you will store the dough in. I had it in the fridge over night and it did some more rising in there. This morning I took some dough, formed it for a minute, and after letting it rest for 40 min. it went into the oven for 30 min.
Tatttaaa.... That was it! I'm not kidding. It is really that easy!
Just look at the consistency of the bread inside! Fabulous!
So guess what I had for lunch???
It taste great too! What else could a bread lover want?
I know we will eat a lot of great fresh breads in the future, that's for sure.
For Christmas I would like to get a square baking stone and a pizza peel... Hint, hint.... :0)

Cookies and Cheesecake
Afterwards I also make a German cheesecake.
My German recipe asks for "quark", but that is something that is very hard to find or that you can't get in North America at all. In Germany it is very cheap and readily available everywhere and many recipes ask for it. My substitute for it is made from half cream cheese and cottage cheese, blended together in the blender until smooth. Works fabulous!!!
With the cheesecake we had fresh strawberries , half of them I pureed.
So this was my breakfast today, with a cup of coffee in my Tim Horton's mug from Canada
:0)
