My inspiration were the Ostheimer wood toys.<BR/><BR/> I just cut them out of pine with a scroll saw and then carved them by hand. Pine is not hard wood , so it was easy to practice with it. For toys that your kids can play with you need to use hardwood like maple and cherry for example. I have a book about carving, but don't know where it is right now.
